It’s Your Life, Take Control

Nothing in life is certain and no matter how hard we try there’s always going to be the possibility that we get pushed into change before we think we’re ready. The real question is, how do we really know when we’re ready? Do we base it on time? Age? Money? Courage? Maybe all of the above? Let me tell you, there’s never going to be a right time, we just have to be brave enough to take a leap of faith, believe in ourselves and be ready to take control of every damn moment.

Recently, I was thrown into change unexpectedly, it was a change I wanted, but struggled to put into action myself. Why? Because like everyone I told myself it wasn’t the right time, I still had X, Y & Z to do before I could take a leap of faith. Society has made us believe that there’s a certain way to do things and that we can’t choose what’s right for us, but I’m here to tell you that you can take control and live the life you want without any pressure or explanation needed.

Whether you’re currently experiencing the unexpected, feeling lost or searching for a way to live your best life, it all comes down to being honest with yourself about what you want and taking control of making it happen. It’s your life and it’s time to take the first step towards getting out of your own way.

My top tips for taking control: 

1. If it’s out of your control let it go
It’s okay to acknowledge the emotion you feel, however, if the situation is out of your control and you have no way to change the outcome it’s best to let go and focus your energy where needed.

2. Don’t let negative thoughts consume you
It’s easy and understandable to let a negative experience control how we react and think, but it’s important to not let it be the only thoughts you believe. Try to find the positive in the situation and use it as motivation to pursue whatever is coming next.

3. Don’t let your fears stop you
To achieve your goals you need to be willing to step out of your comfort zone, success is only possible when we stop making excuses and do the hard work.

4. Worry less about money
Yes, we all need money to survive but there is a difference between money for necessities vs desires. When you really think about this, you’ll realise exactly what’s in arms reach.

5. Always be prepared for the unexpected
Being in control means being in control always, not just when it’s needed. You can’t live day by day and expect to be in control of your life. Set goals, make plans, be organised and ready to tackle anything that comes your way.

6. Maintain a healthy lifestyle
To be in control we need to look after our mind, body and soul. Be sure to nourish your body with the ingredients to flourish and thrive.

7. Surround yourself with the best
We are only as strong as the people around us, surround yourself with those who lift you up and remove those who don’t. Positive relationships are the foundation to being the best version of ourselves.

  2. With your mission in mind, work your way through my top tips. For each step write down how you feel and how you will overcome any struggle or fear associated with it. Your answers should be able to inspire you when you feel overwhelmed and be a reminder that you can do it!
