Take a Breath + Relax

More often than not remembering to take a breath and relax is not common practice when creating a business. The statement usually being ‘there is no time to breath’ or ‘I can’t relax until this is done’.

Like you, we find ourselves victim to the same thoughts, however if you don’t have the time to take a breath and relax now, when will you?

The truth is, there will always be something more to do when it comes to building your small business and that is a good thing, but what about you? What are you doing to look after your mind and body for the long term?

Building your brand is one thing, but finding something outside of work that recharges you and gives you the energy to keep innovating and working towards your vision is important.

So how often should you take time out for you?

The short answer: Everyday!

Ok – don’t panic. Yes this is another thing to do, but it will help maintain the best you and ultimately prepare you for the long term!

For those of you who struggle to take time out and relax, we have listed some of our go-to activities to switch off and reset.

Reading a new book

If you are anything like us there is that ever growing list of books that we want to read. Factor in the time to start with one book that you have been meaning to read and escape from the world for an hour or so!

Meditating

It can take time to integrate meditation into your daily life and sometimes we don’t get to each day (which is perfectly ok!), however this is a great way to pause and reflect where you are right now.  If you are looking to get started with meditation we recommend Oprah & Deepak and The Modern Meditator, so make sure to check them out!

Yoga

If you are looking to balance your mind and body check out the range of classes at Summer Healing Yoga. They have a range of different classes whether you are just starting out or if you are more experienced in your practise.

Walking

A breath of fresh air can change your mindset and help you let go of your stress. It can put what seems like a problem into perspective and help you refocus. All you need to do is put on your runners and walk out the door!

Exercise

Find a form of exercise you love and your body will thank you for it. There are so many options from going to a gym, KX Pilates or one of our favs KIC where you can exercise in the comfort of your own home! If you have never done any of these enquire about a trial or a first time package so you can find out what you enjoy before committing.

Spa Experience

If you love being pampered then having a facial and massage can help you really relax and rewind. Finding a place that has a beautiful vibe as soon as you walk in is a must! One of our favourites is Temple Body and Soul who have a number of different packages available and take the time to personalise your experience.

Cup of tea

What is better than a warm cup of your favourite brew? With so many flavours available and health benefits associated, a cup of tea can instantly change your mood. Make it at home or visit your local cafe for a change of scenery. We can’t go past a cup of chai and if you can’t either be sure to check our chai blog featuring our favourite places.

Floatation Therapy

If you haven’t tried floating it is a one of a kind of experience and has amazing benefits for your mind and body. Water Temple Floatation Therapy is our go to and has a range of different options based on how often you want to float!

Infrared Sauna

Take 30 or 45 minutes for yourself at Urban Retreat and come out feeling balanced and refreshed by sweating it out! We felt amazing after only one session and can’t wait to go back!
