The 3 Month Plan

When starting to plan for success we understand the overwhelm that you may feel. You may find that you have an endless list of goals (which is awesome) but you have no idea about how you are going to start to work towards fulfilling them.

We have found that the secret to achieving our goals, managing a social life, working full time and enjoying the process comes down to our 3 month plan.

We want you to know this is a plan and plans can change, however the main aim is that you’re allocating time within your week and taking active steps towards fulfilling the bigger goal.

How many goals should I set?

If you are anything like us we have an endless list of goals that we are wanting to achieve. We recommend writing them down as they come to you (using your my list or notepad is great for this!), however the key is not to try and fulfil so many goals in one month that you end up not wanting to do anything in the following months. It is all about consistency!

So how do you start your 3 month plan?

Set some time aside about 2 weeks prior to the start of a new month. This is the first step – you need to plan to make your plan!

Make sure you set your environment up in a way that you will have no distractions so that you can really think about what you are wanting to achieve. For us, we discuss our business goals, what we both have on personally such as family obligations and functions and fitness goals. Yours may be different, but try and divide them into 3 main areas. If you don’t have a business you may choose to label this as something different – perhaps there is a new skill you are wanting to learn so you instead of the label ‘business’ you can call this ‘learning’.

Step 1: Write down what may already be planned in the upcoming months first. This may be a function, event, birthday or even the night of the week you choose to spend with your partner!

Step 2: If you have a goal to exercise a particular number of times per week; note this down on the days that the classes you attend are on or the days that you will go to the gym.

Step 3: In the spare time allocate time to work on your business or actively learn the new skill that you have never got around to.

So you may be thinking that there are not enough hours in your day to do what you want to do. The harsh reality is that we all the have same amount of hours and it comes down to how you use it. If you sit down and simply watch Netflix each night (yes there is time for this too!) then this is going to reduce your hours that you could be spending working on one of your goals. In saying this your plan should still be an enjoyable set of things to do that you are excited about doing or at least see the value in. For example factoring in chill time at least once a week and in between tasks on the weekends is important for balance. Remember you make the choice for how you spend your time.

When do I set the next 3 month plan?

Within your current 3 month plan approximately 1-2 weeks before the end of the month set a date for when you will make your new 3 month plan.
